Summary

Andre 'Dre' Johnson has a great job, a beautiful wife, Rainbow, four kids, and a colonial home in the 'burbs. But has success brought too much assimilation for this black family? With a little help from his dad, Dre sets out to establish a sense of cultural identity for his family that honors their past while embracing the future.

In "Pilot," Dre, an advertising exec, is happily anticipating a promotion at work, which would make him the firm's first African American senior vice president. Rainbow, an anesthesiologist, is looking forward to Dre's raise. Meanwhile, Andre Jr. makes an announcement -- he's converting to Judaism so he can have a Bar Mitzvah, like all his friends.

The Talk
